W-2 Scam

About this training:

In this video, a bank robber is in the middle of a robbery when a young “skacker” (half scam artist, half hacker) interrupts the robber by telling him that his method of crime is too outdated. She then shows off how she was able to scam a payroll worker at a grocery store chain to send her the W-2 records of all of their employees. The skackers were then able to file the fake tax return, and take the IRS for a substantial sum.

This story was inspired by the Sprout’s Farmers Market breach that was widely reported on in March of 2016 where 21,000 workers W-2 reports were stolen.
